This common inorganic salt exists in different forms, most notably as the anhydrous form, which is a powder, and as the decahydrate (Na2SO4⋅10H2O), which is also known as Glauber's salt. The anhydrous form is hygroscopic, meaning it readily absorbs moisture from the air.
Uses :
- Detergents: Used as a filler in powdered laundry detergents.
- Glass Manufacturing: Employed in the production of glass to improve quality.
