Brazilian clay is a variety of kaolin clay. These clays come in different colors, including red, pink, purple, orange, yellow and natural. These clays are naturally colored and do not contain artificial dyes or pigments. Instead, their color is a result of the minerals absorbed over time. Brazilian clay is used to add color to homemade soaps, skincare / cosmetic products. Brazilian clay works well in products for the face as well as the body.

Purple Brazilian Clay has naturally occurring copper, selenium, zinc, and magnesium. Brazilian clays add a wonderful silky lather to soaps. They impart the most color in gelled cold process soaps. The mica present in Brazilian clay is not added and occurs naturally in the mining process.

~ Cosmetic & Pharmaceutical Grade, USP
General usage: 1 tsp to 1 Tbs per pound of base. For face masks, common usage is 50-75%. Compatibility testing recommended to ensure desired outcome.
To avoid clumping, it is best to wet your clay before adding it to your base. First, disperse clay in a small amount of either oil, glycerin or water, blend well, then add to your batch. (For CP, add to lye-water solution after dispersing in glycerin, water or oil). Results will vary according to the color of your base oils.
